(Chapter 1)

* The Lord created everything


* The Lord is a spirit


* The Lord can speak things into existence


* Man/woman were made in the image of God (The Lord) and man/woman were created to have dominion over all of the earth


* God (The Lord) created everything in 6 days


* Everything God (The Lord) creates is good


The Book of Genesis

(Chapter 2)

* God (The Lord) rested on the 7th day and blessed and sanctified it


* God (The Lord) is in control


* There is water in the earth


* Man/woman is a living soul


* It is not good for man/woman to be alone


* When a man and woman get married they become one flesh (spiritual manner)

(Chapter 3)

* Satan lied to Eve


* Don't believe the lies of the enemy


* Adam wanted to pass the blame to Eve and God


* Eve blamed the serpent and did not accept responsibility


* God cursed Satan for what he did and God foreshadows that Christ will go to the cross to take care of sin


* There is sin/curse in the world because of the disobedience of man


* The male should be the leader in a marriage


The Book of Genesis

(Chapter 4)

* The Lord respected the offering from Abel but not Cain


* Cain was not obedient to the Lord and wanted to do it his way


* Cain killed Abel because he was jealous of him


* Cain was rebellious and had a bad attitude


* The Lord punished Cain and also showed mercy by mentioning if anyone killed Cain that person would have a seven fold punishment


* Adam and Eve had Seth (The Lord showed compassion to make up for the loss of Abel) - Out of the seed of Seth men began to call on the name of the Lord again

(Chapter 5)

* God took Enoch before he died

(Chapter 6)

* Sons of God (maybe angels)


* Angels may have been having children with the women


* His days shall be 120 (verse may mean no man/woman will live longer than 120 years old)


* The mighty men may have been born as a result of angels mating with women


* The earth was filled with lots of wickedness and the Lord decided to destroy life on the earth by using a flood


* Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord (Noah may have been the only person on the earth at that time who was considered righteous by the Lord)


* The Lord commanded Noah to build an ark


* The Lord destroyed all of the life on the earth but spared Noah, his wife, sons and son's wives


* The Lord established a covenant with Noah


* The Lord commanded Noah to bring two of every animal (male/female) on the ark (Noah was told to bring some of all of the food available for himself/family/animals)

(Chapter 7)

* It appears Noah was the only person seen as righteous and his family may have been spared because the Lord was showing favor to Noah


* The Lord instructed Noah to bring clean and not clean beasts and fowls on the ark


* The Lord caused it to rain 40 days and 40 nights


* The Lord caused the earth to open up and water came out

(Chapter 8)

* The Lord stopped the water from coming onto the earth and eventually the water disappeared from the ground and Noah and family exited the ark and helped get all of the animals off the ark


* Noah built an altar and offered sacrifices to the Lord using the clean animals (The Lord liked what Noah was doing and promised to never curse the ground again for man's sake and the Lord will also not smite every living thing)


* While the earth remains (now through the millenium) seed time and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter and day/night shall not cease

(Chapter 9)

* It is important to show respect to your parents (Ham was not respectful to his Dad [Noah] and he [Ham] became cursed along with his descendants) (Noah blessed his sons Shem and Japheth who showed him [Noah] respect

(Chapter 11)

* People at this time were all of one language and came together to build a city with a tower (This may have been an attempt to build a one world government based system)


* The Lord did not want this idea (described above) to continue so he [The Lord] scattered the people all over the earth and gave them different languages

(Chapter 12)

* The Lord made a promise to Abram [Abraham] that he would make a great nation out of him and bless him


* Abram [Abraham] was obedient to the Lord


* The soul is the essence of who you are


* Abram [Abraham] was very blessed and righteous and the Lord blessed Abram [Abraham] with gold, silver, rich in cattle, manservants and maid servants

(Chapter 13)

* Work to keep the peace


* Abram [Abraham] worshipped to the Lord at the altar


* The Lord renewed his convenant with Abram [Abraham]

(Chapter 14)

* Abram [Abraham] was Hebrew/Jewish


* When Abram [Abraham] heard his brother [Lot] was kidnapped he [Abram/Abraham] went to rescue him [Lot]


* King Melchizedek blessed Abram [Abraham]


* Abram [Abraham] thanked King Melchizedek by giving him a gift


* Abram [Abraham] believed in the Lord and he was counted righteous

(Chapter 15)

* The Lord made a covenant with Abram [Abraham] that unto thy seed have I given this land (from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates)


* When you try to do things yourself on your timing and not wait for the Lord's timing there may be issues (The Lord can take your mess and make something great out of it)


* The Lord can give us a vision of the future

(Chapter 17)

* The Lord changed Abram's name to Abraham


* The Lord commanded Abraham to make sure that every man child in his generations was circumcised


* Those that are not circumcised are cut off from his people


* The Lord changed Sarai's name to Sarah (She is blessed by the Lord)


* The Lord told Abraham that he would have a child named Isaac and he would continue the covenant promise


* The Lord mentioned at the set time Sarah would have Isaac next year

(Chapter 18)

* All things are possible with the Lord (Sarah had Isaac in her old age)


* The Lord chose Abraham because he trusted in him to do the right thing


* It is not right to kill righteous people during the process of killing the wicked

(Chapter 19)

* There was a lot of wickedness in Sodom and Gomorrah (Homosexuality and rape)


* The Lord destroyed the town of Sodom and Gomorrah and the wicked people


* Lot and his family were given the opportunity to escape Sodom and Gomorrah


* We have free will and it is important that we make good decisions. Lot's son in laws had the opportunity to leave Sodom and Gomorrah and chose to stay and were destroyed. Lot, his two daughters and wife left Sodom and Gomorrah


* The Lord showed mercy to Lot and his family because they were close family to Abraham


* Lot's wife was not obedient to the Lord and looked back and turned into a pillar of salt (It is important in life to be obedient to the Lord and focus on moving forward)

(Chapter 21)

* Abraham was 100 years old when his child Isaac was born


The Book of Genesis

(Chapter 22)

* The Lord tested Abraham by asking him to offer his son Isaac as a sacrifice (This process demonstrated that Abraham was obedient and that he put his trust in the Lord)


* The Lord showed his love for Abraham by telling Abraham last second to stop the sacrifice of his son (Isaac) and to use the animal the Lord provided

(Chapter 28)

* Jacob promised to give a tenth (gift) back to the Lord

(Chapter 29)

* Laban took advantage of Jacob


* Jacob had more than one wife

(Chapter 30)

* The Lord may bless you because you are around someone who is blessed


* Treat people the way you want to be treated

(Chapter 31)

* Laban worshiped many Gods (idols)


* Jacob worked 20 years for Laban's two daughter's and for cattle


* Jacob and Laban agreed to make peace

(Chapter 32)

* Jacob trusted the Lord


* Jacob's name was changed to Israel (Prince of God)

(Chapter 33)

* Esau forgives Jacob

(Chapter 35)

* Do not worship idols

(Chapter 37)

* Do not be jealous of others because the jealousy could lead to bad decisions being made


* The Lord communicated to Joseph in his dreams


* Speak out against evil

(Chapter 38)

* The Lord does not like wickedness


The Book of Genesis

(Chapter 39)

* The Lord was with Joseph and he was a prosperous man


* Others were blessed around Joseph because Joseph was blessed


* Joseph fled from temptation in regards to Potiphar's wife wanting to sleep with him

(Chapter 40)

* Joseph was able with the Lord's help to interpret dreams


The Book of Genesis

(Chapter 41)

* Pharaoh appointed Joseph to second in command in Egypt (Joseph ruled over all the land of Egypt)


* Joseph stored up food during the good years so that during the famine there would be food available

(Chapter 42)

* Joseph was the Governor in Egypt


The Book of Genesis

(Chapter 47)

* We are to work for things we want/need and not expect handouts all of the time


The Book of Genesis

(Chapter 49)

* Jesus comes out of the line of Judah


* There are 12 tribes of Israel


* Joseph was humble and loved the Lord
